Alexa Design for a Major Utility

Delivering weather and safety info to the community

A major west-coast utility company needed a new way to educate and inform its customers about weather events and emergency safety. This organization is technology-invested and consumer-oriented, which means they take the time to release things like this “skill” for Amazon Alexa devices (in this case, demoed for an Echo Show). These are examples of designs that consider a touch screen interface mixed with a primarily voice-operated experience.

Consumer Education

Rather than just informing the user of a Flex Alert (where utility customers are encouraged to reduce their consumption), this organization offers tips for keeping the lights on. This is better for both the public and the utility.
